Description of Services

The Department of Conferences addresses a broad range of organizing, hosting, and logistical service needs. Services are provided to a variety of constituents and include program planning in concert with faculty and staff members, conference registration, scheduling of facilities and single-contact access for outside groups needing multiple university service providers.

The Department of Conferences provides leadership within and for the institution relative to conference and event planning and management.

To accomplish this, the DOC office :

  •  Serves as a single point of contact for multiple campus services
  •  Provides effective coordination of campus services
  • Collaborates with clients and service providers to assure that programs have a positive and compatible presence in the campus community
  • Creates opportunities for academic departments  and other campus departments to fulfill theirprogrammatic goals for students, faculty and other learners
  • Coordinates meeting times, locations and services to outside clients using university space and special internal events so as to lessen their impact and minimize interruptions and interference with regularly scheduled and routine campus activities
  • Assesses the appropriateness and compatibility of conferences, events, and similar activities with the institution’s mission
  • Knows, articulates, and implements state-of-the-art meeting/event planning concepts and procedures
  • Provides one-stop access to and coordination of services to planners of conferences, events, and similar gatherings
  • Is a knowledgeable source of information about university programs, campus facilities, andsupport services
