Report Your Community Service Learning

The Office of Community Service Learning asks USM students to report their community based work.  If you volunteer, are enrolled in service learning course, mentor, tutor in an afterschool program or are in an internship in a non-profit setting please complete the Report Your Community Service Learning Form below.  The form will be sent directly to a Community Service Learning staff member.  We appreciate being kept informed  about your work as it helps us better tell the story of engaged learning at USM.

Please include the name of the community partner organization that you served at, an account of the work you participated in, and share any suggestions, thoughts, or concerns you may have. You may also suggest materials and/or resources that you would like to utilize in your community service work such as but not limited to mentoring or tutoring.

Service-learning has been defined as a “course-based, credit-bearing educational experience that allows students to:

* participate in an organized service activity that meets identified community needs and
* reflect on the service activity in such a way as to gain further understanding of course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline, and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility." - Bringle & Hatcher (1995)
