MLK Day of Service partners with Portland High School, Boys & Girls Clubs
Friday, January 13, on the eve of the Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend, students at USM and students at Portland High School are conducting an anti-bullying workshop for elementary and middle school students at the Boys & Girls Club Riverton Park Clubhouse. Drawing inspiration from Dr. King's teachings about social justice and the dignity of every person, the interactive workshop will create a "Tolerance Tree," with outlines of their hands as leaves on the tree, representing the insight that it takes all of us to create the community of justice we all seek.
Help us plan USM Day of Service!
We are gearing up for the planning of the 2013 USM Day of Service, which will take place on Friday, April 19th from 10am-4pm. All students are welcome to join the planning committee and offer insight on how we might give back to the community on this special day. Please accompany us in this process! Contact Julia Pond at jpond@usm.maine.edu if you are interested.
