Community Service Learning Open House
Resolve to make your life and others' better this new year by engaging in community service learning! The staff of Community Service Learning invites the campus community to an Open House on January 23, 10 AM to 2 PM, at their office in the Deering Farmhouse, 23 Brighton Avenue, Portland . Meet the staff and community partners and learn about the life-changing opportunities that are available through community service learning! Our 2011-2014 program emphasis on supporting college access for disadvantaged K-12 students focuses activities on mentoring --offering individual relationships of friendship and support with students at King Middle School or Portland High School-- and tutoring --after school homework help with elementary, middle, and high school students in school and community based programs five days a week. As little as an hour a week can change two lives -- that of a K-12 student, and yours!
Help us plan USM Day of Service!
We are gearing up for the planning of the 2013 USM Day of Service, which will take place on Friday, April 19th from 10am-4pm. All students are welcome to join the planning committee and offer insight on how we might give back to the community on this special day. Please accompany us in this process! Contact Julia Pond at jpond@usm.maine.edu if you are interested.
