Community Partner Guide to Developing a Service Learning Project
In community service learning, your organization's need for volunteer help becomes the opportunity for our students to have a quality, hands-on learning experience that supports their academic and career goals.
Our commitment is to mobilize USM students to address community-identified need in partnerships marked by respect, reciprocity, and mutual benefit. The work ranges from one-time projects and brief involvement to semester-long and even year-long service learning engagement. Students participate in service in introductory, mid-career, and capstone courses, with increasing levels of disciplinary and professional expertise.
We work to match students, faculty, and courses with community partners and projects, provide tools for articulating expectations on the part of students, faculty, and community partners, and support students and partners during the course of the project.
Contact us to discuss your needs and the opportunities you have for our students. We look forward to exploring potential community partnerships to our mutual benefit!
