The Office of Community Service Learning encourages USM students, faculty, staff and community partners to present their work at the third annual Civic Matters, a symposium of USM community-based projects and research on Friday November 16, 2012. Projects from a previous semester, from a course you are teaching or enrolled in this fall and on-going research are all eligible. Please visit the Civic Matters submission guideline page before submitting a proposal to present. All submission forms will be sent directly to Alicia Ethridge, Service Learning Coordinator. If you have questions or concerns about your submission please contact Alicia Ethridge at 228-8092 or aethridge@usm.maine.edu.
January is National Mentoring Month!
Recruitment for Spring 2013 mentors and tutors is under way! Mentoring has demonstrated results in increased academic performance and aspirations for middle and high school students. Tutoring and homework support in after school programs supports the college aspirations of elementary, middle, and high school students in school and community based programs five days a week. The full list of programs is here; contact us now to start the application and placement process for a prompt start in the new year!
