Amanda Maddalone is a 2012 graduate of Elon University, where she earned a degree in environmental sciences with a minor in biology. As an America Reads volunteer and through other service learning experiences, she became committed to civic engagement in higher education. She joins us in 2012-2013 through Maine Campus Compact's AmeriCorps VISTA program as Programs Coordinator, working to mobilize USM students in support of college access programs for K-12 students.
January is National Mentoring Month!
Recruitment for Spring 2013 mentors and tutors is under way! Mentoring has demonstrated results in increased academic performance and aspirations for middle and high school students. Tutoring and homework support in after school programs supports the college aspirations of elementary, middle, and high school students in school and community based programs five days a week. The full list of programs is here; contact us now to start the application and placement process for a prompt start in the new year!
