After School Enrichment Programs

Serve an afternoon a week or more at one of these sites to help provide homework help and structured activities to promote academic achievement for college access:
- Boys and Girls Club at Riverton Park and Sagamore Villlage
- LearningWorks Afterschool at Reiche or East End Elementary
- Make It Happen Study Center at Deering High School
- Parkside Neighborhood Center - Nightlight Afterschool Program
- King-Parkside Academic Collaboration - King Middle School/Parkside Neighborhood Center
- Portland Housing Authority Study Center - Riverton Park
Volunteers have served as academic tutors, facilitators of structured playtime and learning activities (including music, arts and sports activities), or facilitators of programs discussing health and life skills or leadership skills. No matter your interest, there is a place for you in an afterschool program!
January is National Mentoring Month!
Recruitment for Spring 2013 mentors and tutors is under way! Mentoring has demonstrated results in increased academic performance and aspirations for middle and high school students. Tutoring and homework support in after school programs supports the college aspirations of elementary, middle, and high school students in school and community based programs five days a week.
