ADMISSION APPLICATION DEADLINES

Special Admission Requirements for Psy.D. in School Psychology

In addition to meeting the minimum admission requirements of the College of Education and Human Development, to be eligible for admission to the Psy.D. program, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

  1. Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, and;
  2. Have earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) in a baccalaureate degree program; or have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) in a master’s/graduate degree program, and;
  3. Have earned a score of 1000 points or above on the combined verbal and quantitative scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or, for those with certification as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), submit a copy of a current and valid Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) Certificate and have earned a score of 900 points or above on the combined verbal and quantitative scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Standardized test scores required of all applicants;
  4. Two personal essays (see below);
  5. Documentation of professional experiences form (see below).

The Psy.D. admissions process requires a formal interview. Candidates to be interviewed will be selected on the basis of the above information.

Application Instructions for Psy.D. in School Psychology

APPLICATION MATERIALS – Send in your application and fee as soon as possible!
A complete application consists of:

  • two copies of the completed application form (a photocopy of the original is fine)
  • the application fee of $50.00 made payable to USM
  • two sets of official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, including USM
  • standardized test scores (GRE)
  • three recommendations
  • essay and professional experiences form (see below)
  • certification of finances (international students only)
  • TOEFL scores (international students whose first language is not English)

SPECIAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Psy.D. in School Psychology:
PsyD in School Psychology program applicants are required to complete two essays and should be sent with your application. For Question 17 of "Application for Admission to Graduate Study" all Psy.D. applicants must answer both of the following questions with separate essays for each question:

1. The USM School Psychology Program embraces a behaviorally-based model for assessment and intervention. Briefly describe your understanding of behavioral theory and how comfortable you are working with that model.

2. Describe what is meant by the term "evidence-based practice." What role should evidence-based practice play in the delivery of school psychological services?

Application Instructions for Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (post-master’s)

APPLICATION MATERIALS
A complete application consists of:

  • A Completed application form
  • Nonrefundable processing fee of $15.00, payable to USM
  • Official Transcripts or copies of official transcripts from all colleges and universities from which you received a degree
  • Current Resume
  • An essay explaining reasons for seeking the CABA
