Zark VanZandt is a Professor in the department of Human Resource Development. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Michigan State University, and holds an Ed.D. from the University of Maine. After coordinating the Counselor Education program and serving as chair of the Human Resource Development department during the 1990's, he moved into college and university administration. He served as CEHD Associate Dean, Interim Director of University Libraries, and Dean of USM's Lewiston-Auburn College.
Dr. VanZandt’s academic interests are in the areas of Career Development, Group Process & Procedures, and School Counseling. He has co-authored three books and numerous journal articles, and has made over 100 presentations at national, regional, and state conferences. He is also the creator of the Get A Life Career Planning Portfolio, a resource with world-wide distribution through the American School Counselor Association. In 1997 & 1998, Dr. VanZandt consulted with and trained educators from nine former Soviet-bloc countries to create career guidance programming for their schools.
Dr. VanZandt returned to full-time teaching in January, 2008, after completing a sabbatical that allowed him to work on his current project, a supplemental text about the effects of hidden agendas on group dynamics.
