The Department of Teacher Education offers teaching degrees, options, and pathways to State of Maine Teacher Certification to the following:
- 1st time college students who want to become elementary school, middle school, or special education teachers.
- Undergraduate transfer students who want to become elementary school, middle school, or special education school teachers.
- People with a bachelor's degree who want to become elementary school, middle school, high school, or special education school teachers.
- Career changers with a bachelor's degree who want to become elementary school, middle school, high school, or special education school teachers.
- Career changers without a bachelor's degree who want to become elementary school, middle school, high school, or special education school teachers.
- Educational technicians with a bachelor's degree who want to become elementary school, middle school, high school, or special education school teachers while continuing to work in schools.
- Educational technicians without a bachelor's degree who want to change careers and become elementary school, middle school, high school, or special education school teachers.
