MTL Outcomes

etep application handbook

The MTL Program has adopted the Five Propositions of Accomplished Teaching of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards as program outcomes.

1. Teachers are committed to students and their learning. Teachers draw on their knowledge of child and adolescent development and their relationships with students to understand and foster their students' knowledge, skills, interests, aspirations, and values.

2. Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience. Teachers regularly analyze, evaluate, and strengthen the effectiveness and quality of their practice.

3. Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students. Teachers draw on their knowledge of subject matter to establish goals and to facilitate student learning within and across the disciplines of study.

4. Teachers are members of learning communities. Teachers work with colleagues to improve schools and to advance knowledge and practice in their field. They also work with families to achieve common goals for the education of their children.

5. Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning. Teachers use a variety of instructional and assessment approaches to help students build meaningful knowledge, strengthen understanding, take intellectual risks, and work independently and collaboratively.
