Declaration of Intent
- Step One
-Successfully complete all requirements for certification
-Receive internal sign off from ETEP site coordinator, TEAMS or CLASS coordinator
-If in ETEP, complete the ETEP teaching portfolio
- Step Two
Secure a teaching position, this can be a full-time or part-time teaching position, teacher assistant, or instructor in an alternative environment
- Step Three
Complete a Declaration of Intent form and send to Patricia Mew at 500 Bailey Hall, Gorham ME 04038 or E-mail at pmew@usm.maine.edu
- Step Four
Program completion, timeframe, and extension
MTL was designed to support teachers during their initial years of teaching. It is expected that students have full time access to a classroom as a teacher, long-term substitute, instructor in an alternative environment, or teacher assistant.
The program should be completed within a five year period. If in ETEP the time limit begins with the ETEP certification year. Extensions may be requested in writing to, Cathy Madore cmadore@usm.maine.edu. E-mail is acceptable.
