Jim Curry has served as a classroom teacher, a program coordinator, an administrator, a consultant, a university professor, and a mentor. He continues to work with teachers in classrooms to provide challenging but supportive learning experiences for students with diverse backgrounds, abilities/disabilities, and needs. These teachers and students have provided him with the “real-world” base for sharing ideas in workshops and in USM graduate courses.

Jim and his colleague, John Samara, have written and edited approximately 20 publications that are designed to assist teachers in planning and implementing instructional activities that respond to a wide range of learner needs. Together, they developed the Curry-Samara Model (CSM) for curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The model has been field tested in classrooms, pre-kindergarten through high school. Guidebooks have been developed and published in Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Utah.
