CEHD Leadership Council
Mission: Assists the Dean in making important administrative decisions affecting the welfare and integrity of the College of Education and Human Development; take action on recommendations of standing committees; monitor College governance; acts as advisor about issues and concerns affecting the college; initiates ad hoc committees to address critical issues in the College; advocates for actions regarding departmental and College-wide needs; and provides leadership for and management of College initiatives and priority actions.

Admissions and Retention Committee
Mission: Examines policies, procedures, and resources for the recruiting and admission of students; review current practices and recommend (to the appropriate body) procedural guidelines for advising and retention matters; recommend college-level appeals procedures relating to admissions to the Executive Council; review program admissions criteria and procedures, and make recommendations to the Dean and to the Executive Council.

Classified and Professional Staff Committee (CPS)
Mission: Meets to provide information exchange and updates on programmatic and administrative activities, examines issues that impact staff, appoints CPS representatives to College and University committees, and provides for staff development.

Curriculum Committee
Mission: Recommends to the Dean’s Executive Council the approval or disapproval of proposed courses, course changes and eliminations; reviews proposals for development of new programs or changes in or elimination of existing programs; recommends action/s to the Dean’s Executive Council; recommends action to deal with curriculum problems as seen from the College perspective.

Faculty Development Committee
Mission: Promotes and supports faculty development by creating faculty development opportunities; distributing a portion of faculty development resources available to the College by way of a “Request for Proposal” process; awarding graduate assistantships; advising the Dean concerning USM Annual Faculty Awards and other university-wide faculty recognition initiatives; and communicating all committee decisions to faculty colleagues through appropriate means.

Libra Committee
Mission: Reviews the standards and priorities by which Libra Scholars will be chosen; identifies potential themes that may be addressed by Libra Scholars to address College-wide needs and issues; recruits, reviews and proposes candidates for Libra Scholar appointments; coordinates the schedules and logistical plans for Libra Scholars; provides leadership for the College in promoting and using the expertise of the Libra Scholars; oversees the quality of the Libra Scholar program within the College.

Mulitcultural Learning Collaborative (MLC) Steering Committee
Mission: Guides the College-wide efforts to educate ourselves, our students, and the larger community about diversity; develops a more diverse curriculum; increases the diversity of our students, staff, and faculty; oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of the CEHD Diversity Plan.

College Peer Committee
Mission: Conducts College-level reviews of CEHD faculty who are seeking re-appointment, tenure, and/or promotion, and to recommend action to the Dean and serves in an advisory capacity to all faculty regarding tenure and promotion standards and protocol.

Professional Development Center (PDC) Steering Committee
Mission: Develops policies and procedures to connect the PDC with the program goals of the College’s departments and stakeholders; assesses the staff development needs of schools and targeted human services agencies; recommends programs and services to meet regional professional development needs; reviews courses, workshops, and institutes offered through the PDC; reviews qualitative assessments of PDC programs and services; assists in long-range planning for the PDC; and promotes PDC’s outreach mission in regional schools and agencies.

Scholarships and Awards Committee
Mission: Develops financial aid initiatives in the College; oversees application process for and the awarding of CEHD scholarships and the management of graduate assistantships; develops and implements opportunities and vehicles for student recognition; and plans annual student recognition ceremony

The Committee on Digital Learning and Collaboration
Mission: Recommends the purchase of hardware, software, and training resources regarding the use of technology and media in instruction and administration; reviews students' technology and media needs and recommends responses to those needs; promotes coursework that addresses technology and media applications; identifies technology and media resource and training needs of faculty and staff, and makes recommendations to departments and the Dean.
