Conducting Reliable Needs Assessments

This course will help aspiring and experienced trainers learn how to conduct needs assessments. As trainers, we know we should assess needs; but the barriers of time, resources, and lack of "know-how" often get in our way. In this course, you will learn:

  • the appropriate scope and methods of a needs assessment
  • how to decide when training is needed and when it is not
  • good practices for assessing the needs of individuals, groups, and organizations
  • how to do on-the-spot assessments
  • how to do complex assessments using techniques such as behavior event interviewing, the Delphi, and action reflection
