Interviewing: Hiring the Right Person

We all need quality employees who are skilled and are enthusiastic and commited. Hiring the right per-son for the job is critical to building a high performance workforce and reducing costly turnover. In this workshop you will learn the appropriate steps for hiring 'winners' by interviewing and hiring applicants while avoiding the legal pitfalls. Identify what questions can and should be asked and avoid questions that may be discriminatory or inappropriate. You'll also learn how to uncover past work behaviors and evaluate the candidates based on the job's real need. Participants will learn to:

  • conduct an interview effectively and legally using behavioral based strategies
  • identify discriminatory questions that should not be asked
  • evaluate the applicants based on the jobs real needs.
