The Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, with the advice of the Faculty Professional Development Committee, administers a budget to support participation at scholarly conference and workshops. Faculty of the College are invited to submit requests for assistance in the following categories. The total amount allocated per faculty per year for 2008-2009 will not exceed $800.00. Due to limited resources not all requests can be granted. Category I requests will be given priority.
Category I: Presentation of scholarly/artistic work. Please attach your acceptance. If it is not available at time of application submission, it can be submitted upon its arrival. Maximum request: $800
Category II: Participation as a chair, commentator or panelist. Please attach documentation. Maximum request: $450
Category III: Attendance at a conference/workshop (limited availability). Maximum request: $225
Application Deadline and Period of Activity

Period I Friday, April 25, 2008: Travel from July 1, 2008 - October 31, 2008

19, 2008: Travel from Nov. 1, 2008 - February 28, 2009

30, 2009: Travel from March 1, 2009 - June 30, 2009

Recipients of travel awards are required to submit a travel expense voucher, with original receipts, within 30 days of the
trip. However, if the recipient receives a travel advance, then travel expense vouchers are required to be submitted within 5 days of his/her return
from the trip.

Air travel arrangements may be made through a
travel agent or on-line and may be paid for with the traveler's personal
credit card or with a university purchasing card.

In addition to seeking support from the faculty professional development fund, colleagues are encouraged to identify other funding sources, including grants, fellowships, matching grants, and stipends from public and private agencies and foundations. Contact the Office of Sponsored Programs, 780-4411, for assistance with these additional sources.
