If you are a USM student or alumni, you can now take the Strong online! You
will receive your results during an appointment. You must
meet with a counselor to get them.

The most widely used personality inventory in
the world,
the Myers-Briggs
Type IndicatorŪ was developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and her
mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, to make C.G. Jung's theory of
psychological type practical and useful in people's lives
The MBTIŪ instrument provides an accurate
picture of a person’s personality type by determining preferences
in four categories; the combination of these preferences will
identify one of 16 distinct personality types. Understanding the
characteristics unique to each personality type provides insight on
individuals' ways of communicating and interacting with others.
This information can then be used to identify the types of
careers that may be supportive to each personality type.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is offered to
students and alumni through Career Services by request. The
computer-based assessment costs $15.00**
for students and $30.00**
for alumni and takes
approximately 25 minutes to complete.
After completing the assessment, you will sign up for an
appointment which will guide you through interpreting your
results and suggest careers supportive to your personality type.
