Several outstanding student employment options are available. More than 85% of USM students work while attending school, many through one of our employment programs: part-time and full-time jobs and/or Cooperative Education/Internship jobs. It is our mission to assist you with your search for the ideal student worker, yet it is important for you to remember that we do not screen or check references of students applying for most positions.

The University of Southern Maine is an equal opportunity employer and offers education and employment to everyone
without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, or citizen status, age, disability, or veteran's status. We trust you will comply with our equal employment opportunity policy.
Thank you for your support. Please continue to keep us in mind when planning your professional and support staffing needs. We look forward to working with you and would appreciate a phone call to
(207) 780-4220 if you hire a USM student.
Your position opening is advertised to our students through our online
eRecruiting Jobs Database, and direct student email contact. Additionally, we mail lists of current openings to academic and support departments weekly.
We urge you to use this option even if you use another method of student contact. USM students know the database is there and can use it from the privacy of their own homes at their convenience. This process has proven to be a very effective method of reaching our students.

Access to Your Organization's Information & Web Site |
If, in connection with your participation in our Online Jobs Database, Employer Tables or USM Job Fair you wish to provide students with application forms, this is coordinated through our office. Students requesting employer information are directed to the employers' web sites, which can be strong recruiting tools when sites are well organized and contain the type of information students need about employers and their employment opportunities.
You can add or change the URL for your
site, directly from the
eRecruiting site.
We are always happy to help you advertise your jobs and improve your campus exposure in any way we can. There are several ways to accomplish this, and we are always open to new suggestions.
1. During the academic year, you can place an ad in the Free Press, USM's student newspaper. Call
780-4084.
2.
Post your flyers around USM. If you would like to place flyers on bulletin boards
around campus, you must bring the flyers to the
Student Involvement Center in the middle of the Woodbury Campus Center
Portland or the Dean of Student Life office in Brooks Dining Center,
Gorham to be stamped. You may post 11 flyers in Portland and 3 in Gorham.
They will let you know admissible areas to post your flyers.
Call 780-4090 (P) or 780-5470
(G) for more info.
3. If you are holding an off-campus recruiting
event that may be of interest to our students, we will distribute the information to our students through email,
make your flyer available to students and also include the job
information on our website. Send information to:
