Banned Books Week 2008 is the twenty-seventh annual celebration of the freedom to read. This freedom, not only to choose what we read, but also to select from a full array of possibilities, is firmly rooted in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Even if their motivations for restrictions are well intentioned, censors try to limit the freedom of others to chose what they read, see, or hear.
