Is there a need for clinical data to be associated with a tissue sample?

Clinical data, when associated with a tissue sample, greatly increases the utility of that sample for research (as described above). Correlation of molecular findings with linked clinical and laboratory medical information enhances the potential value of the research. For example, if just histopathologic data is linked to the tissue sample, the types of studies that can be done and the potential medical benefits of the research are limited. However, if data about the donor's treatment and outcome are also available, this expands the potential research that could be conducted on this sample.
