Newsletter #1 - September, 1999

Hello everyone,

We hope that everyone had a nice summer. Well, preseason is over and the 1999 team has been picked. See the roster here on the website. Preseason went well. We had 34 players tryout and we have kept 22. With the 13 returning players and 9 new faces, we feel that we have a pretty good team. We are a lot fitter than last year and team speed has improved.

On sunday, August 29th, we had a practice game against UMass Lowell. The game consited of three 30-minute periods. The first period we won 1-0, lost the second one 0-3, and finished strong by winning the last period 1-0. In that last period, we held Lowell to 0 shots on goal. The team felt that individually they could have played better, but we did do some nice things and were able to knock the ball around pretty well. However, we lost newcomer Jolaine Galibois-Barss to injury. It looks like she will be out for about 4 weeks. Our goals were scored by Ali Hathaway and Sarah Drury.

We kick-off the season this weekend in Oneonta, NY for the Supervisor’s Cup and open up at home Wednesday the 8th against the University of New England. Please keep the following date in mind: September 25th! This will be our conference opener and we play Keene State College. It is at home and is a double header with the men. They kick-off at noon and we follow at 2:30pm. After we win the game, we would like to have a get-together with any parents, Alumni, and friends that can make the game(possibly a cookout?).

Fundraiser: Our latest fundraiser is collecting spent inkjet cartridges. If you have an inkjet printer, please do not throw out the cartridge. Save a few of them and mail them to me. And as always, any donation to the program will be greatly appreciated.

ALUMNI: I am still looking for more Alumni info sheets to be sent to me. Also, the Alumni game is scheduled for Saturday, September 18th at 3pm. Please call me if you plan on playing. After the game there is a dinner/dance at the Doubletree Hotel at 7pm. It would be nice to go as a group.

As always, thanks for your support and we will see you at a game.
Steve
