Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff

Head Coach

Lauren Reid

[photo: Coach Reid]The fifth head coach in the history of the USM women's lacrosse program, Lauren Reid assumed that position this fall. She succeeds Sue Frost who resigned during the summer to take a similar position at another institution.

Prior to taking the position at USM, Reid served as head coach of the Deering High School junior varsity girls squad and as an assistant to the varsity team in 2008. She also served as the girls coach at Belchertown (Mass.) High School in 2007.

"I am extremely excited about becoming a part of the USM Athletics family and look forward to building a consistently strong women's lacrosse program here. I hope to instill a whole new level of play with our athletes that sets an aggressive tone for many seasons to come," commented Reid.

"Lauren will be a great addition to our coaching staff. I fully expect that she will bring our women's lacrosse program to a new level of performance," said Al Bean, Director of Athletics. "She earned high school All-American honors at Deering and played at the very highest level of intercollegiate lacrosse competition at Maryland and UMass. She has played for some of the nation's top coaches and has developed a sound philosophy, a deep knowledge of the sport, and the ability to teach the game in a most effective manner. Lauren has impressed me with her ability to communicate, her organizational skills, and her intense passion for the game. I am fully confident that she will build our program to be among the region's most respected".

A four-year letter winner and high school All-American at Deering HS (1999-2002), Reid went to the University of Maryland for a year, playing on the Terrapins' squad that advanced to the NCAA Division I semifinals in 2003. Reid later transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst and played three seasons with the Minutemen.

She completed her undergraduate degree in hospitality and tourism management at UMass Amherst in 2007.
