GORHAM, Maine -- Junior Ryan Murphy (Monson, Mass.) came off the bench to
score the game-winning goal with less than four minutes to play in regulation
time to give Keene State College a hard-fought, 2-1 victory over the University

penalty area where Murphy beat USM goalkeeper David Kreps (Agawam,
Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) to the ball and touched it past Kreps for his first
goal of the season.
Keene State, playing a man down for the final 68 minutes, took a 1-0 lead
in the 31st minute when senior Scott Cluff (Kingston, Mass./Silver Lake) put an
18-yard shot from the right side past Kreps and inside the far side post for his
second marker of the campaign.
Needing a victory and some help to make the LEC postseason tournament, the
Huskies got the equalizer in the 56th minute. Senior Peter McHugh (Scarborough,

with a 12-yard shot over Keene State senior keeper Peter Kersker (Ipswich,

Kreps Named LEC Goalkeeper of the Week
GORHAM, Maine -- University of Southern Maine junior goalkeeper David
Kreps (Agawam, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) has been named the Little East
Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 21-27. Jonathan
Harper, commissioner for the Little East Conference, made the announcement
Monday afternoon.
This is the first time this season, and the fourth time in his career at
USM, that Kreps has been selected by the LEC as the Goalkeeper of the Week.

week allowing just one goal while making six saves. He had four saves in the
Huskies' 5-0 victory over Thomas College to post his first shutout of the
campaign. Kreps also had an assist in the game when his long punt was converted
into the team's fourth goal by junior forward Nick Johnson (South Portland,
Maine). In the Huskies' 2-1 win over LEC rival Plymouth State University, Kreps
made two saves.
For the season, Kreps has appeared in seven matches posting a 1.90 goals
against average and making 26 saves.
Southern Maine travels to Colby College on Wednesday (4:30 p.m.) for a non-
conference match.

Southern Maine Downs Plymouth State 2-1
GORHAM, Maine -- Junior midfielder Chris Kain (Kennebunk, Maine) snapped
a 1-1 tie with less than three minutes to play to give the University of

Mass./Wilbraham & Monson).
