had four game-winning goals. He twice was cited with LEC weekly honors being
named the Offensive Player of the Week on March 23, and the Rookie of the Week

advantage for USM with a man-up tally with 9:24 to play, juniors Robert Mulroy
(Swampscott, Mass./Pingree) and Nate Snow (Salem, Mass.) scored two minutes
apart to tie the game with 5:36 remaining.
Gilbert snapped the deadlock when he received a pass from freshman Willie
Joy (Portland, Maine/Deering) and whipped a shot into the left side of the cage
past Salem State sophomore goalie Brendan Gill (Chelmsford, Mass.).
Gilbert led USM offensively with four points on two goals and two assists.

Hamilton Propels USM Past UNE, 7-6
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Freshman Kayle Hamilton (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle)
scored two goals inside the final two minutes to rally the University of
Southern Maine Huskies past the University of New England Nor'easters for a 7-6

The win was the fifth in a row for the Huskies, who improved to 10-5. UNE

With the Huskies trailing 6-5 in the closing minutes, Hamilton tied the

off, Southern Maine worked the ball into its offensive end. Sophomore Tim Clark
(South Portland, Maine) fired a high shot from close range that UNE goalie Andy
Briggs stopped, but Hamilton scooped up the rebound and converted from the top
of the crease for the game-winner.
After Southern Maine took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Hamilton and
sophomore Tim Bryant (Peterborough, N.H./ConVal), the Nor'easters tallied the
next three -- two by first-year Michael Pennacchio (Peabody, Mass.) -- to grab a
3-2 advantage.

first half to even things up at 3-3.

the third quarter, then Pennacchio added another goal to put the hosts up by
two.

Huskies within one goal and round out third-period scoring at the two-minute
mark.
UNE first-year Dylan Thomas (Pleasantville, N.Y.), assisted by Woods, put
the Nor'easters back up by two (6-4) at 11:16 of the fourth.
Bryant then put home his second goal of the contest on a feed from Gilbert,
getting USM back within one (6-5) and setting up Hamilton's late-game heroics.
Senior goalie James Suriyodorn (Deer Park, N.Y.) made 13 saves for the
Huskies, who got a game-high 10 ground balls from Clark.
The Nor'easters received strong performances from first-year Tim Margiotta

Plowman, Suriyodorn Named USM Men's Lacrosse Captains
Huskies Open 2009 Season Wednesday at Whittier College
GORHAM, Maine -- Seniors Josh Plowman (Gorham, Maine) and Pongprapat
"James" Suriyodorn (Deer Park, N.Y.) have been named co-captains of the
University of Southern Maine men's lacrosse for the 2009 season. Third-year
head coach Malcolm Chase made the announcement last week prior to the team's
spring break trip.
Chase has 10 players, led by Plowman and Suriyodorn, returning from last
year's squad that finished 4-12. Chase and the coaching staff are excited about
the infusion of new talent joining the returning players.
Plowman, a defender, and Suriyodorn, a two-year starter in goal, will be
the mainstays in the back. Plowman appeared in 12 games last spring making four
starts. He had one goal and scooped up 14 ground balls. Suriyodorn complied a
4-12 record with a 10.13 goals against average while making 220 saves (.576 save
percentage).
Other key returnees are senior attack Preston Gilbert (Saco,
Maine/Cheverus), last year's leading scorer with 59 points on 30 goals and 29
assists, senior attack Lee Gauthier (Berwick, Maine/Noble) who tallied 16 goals
and had 6 assists, and junior midfielder Josh Reinhold (Tampa, Fla.) who had
seven goals and two assists.
Among the top newcomers are sophomore defender Tim Clark (South Portland,
Maine), junior midfielder Jacob Litke (Tolland, Conn.), sophomore attack Tim
Bryant (Peterborough, N.H.) and junior defender Matt Morneau (Portland, Maine).
