Friday, March 24, 2000 Alison and Sarah Drury Named To GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District One Teams GORHAM, Maine -- University of Southern Maine senior field hockey standout Alison Drury (Canton, Maine) has been named to the 2000 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-District One Fall/Winter At-Large first team for the college division following balloting by the District One sports information directors. Michael King, assistant sports information director at Boston University and CoSIDA District One coordinator, made the announcement Friday (March 24). King also announced the Alison's twin sister, Sarah, a member of the USM women's soccer team, had been selected to the third team. The Winter/Fall At- Large team covers eight sports. The GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America program is conducted annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be nominated by their respective schools, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. Those student-athletes named to the District One first team are now eligible for national Academic All-America Fall/Winter At-Large honors. A nursing major with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average, Alison led the Huskies in scoring last fall with 14 goals and two assists for 30 points. She was named to the All-Little East Conference team for the second straight year, and was picked as an National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Regional All-American. She has been a Dean's List student all seven semesters that she has attended Southern Maine, and has achieved a 4.00 four times. She is a three- time winner of the USM Athletic Department's William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete Award, and has been named to the NFHCA National Academic squad three times. She was named to GTE/CoSIDA District One Fall/Winter At-Large second team last year. In 79 career games, Drury had 34 goals and 14 assists for 82 points, and she has nine career game winning goals. Her 82 points places her third on the Huskies' all-time scoring list. An athletic training major with a 3.77 cumulative grade point average, Sarah was a four-year member of the Huskies women's soccer team playing at midfield and outside back. A second team All-Little East selection as a junior, she had one goal in 15 games this season. A Dean's List student all seven semesters she has attended USM, including two semesters with a 4.00, Sarah scored five goals and three assists in 62 career games.
