USM Student-Athlete Support Services Career Mentoring Program The Career Mentoring Program is a collaboration among the USM Department of Athletics, the USM Corporate Partners and the USM Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education in the mentoring program. The program is designed to enhance our Student-Athletes' career exploration and to help increase their effectiveness and confidence in securing employment and their understanding of employer expectations.The USM Corporate Partners is a group of approximately 200 business leaders from the greater Portland area; individual members of the Corporate Partners agree to serve as mentors to interested Student-Athletes. In addition, the Career Services staff assist the students with meeting graduation requirements, with career exploration through the CHOICES software application and through helping to develop job seeking skills. The athletics department serves as facilitator for each Student-Athlete's mentoring experience. The Career Mentoring Process Each Student-Athlete moves through the mentoring program as follows:
