The William B. Wise Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually to student-athletes and student athletic trainers who achieve a 3.0 or better grade point average for the academic year. The award is presented to the recipients at an awards reception on the Gorham campus each fall. The Wise Scholar-Athlete program was established in 1987-88; since its inception, approximately 25% of all student-athletes at USM have received Wise Scholar-Athlete honors.

In addition to the Wise Scholar-Athletes, the Athletic Department has a semester honor roll, an honor which our student-athletes strive to attain and which many of them achieve.
