'80 Daniel S. Cote, B.S. Industrial Education. After graduation, Dan went on to earn his MS degree in Occupational Safety from Illinois State University, and his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. He also completed Wharton's Executive Development Program, the Six Sigma & Operational Excellence program of the Insurance Performance Association, and studied at University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business on Corporate Strategy. Dan is currently the Senior Vice President of Loss Prevention and Safety Consulting at Maine Employer's Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC) in Portland, Maine. He was responsible for the development of an internal safety consulting operation for the "start-up" company specializing in workers' compensation insurance. In 1996, he developed a subsidiary operation for the sale of safety consulting services across the United States. Dan serves on numerous boards and councils related to workplace safety and leadership, and is a regular speaker, locally, regionally and nationally.

'94 Stephen Majercik, M.S Computer Science. Steve was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois. His first brush with computers occurred in high school, where he wrote a program on punch cards to multiply two numbers. Although he thought it was one of the coolest things he had ever done, his interest in computers lay dormant for almost twenty years. He earned an AB in political theory from Harvard, and an MBA in finance and an MFA in theatre administration, both from Yale. He spent seven years working in the entertainment industry and the nonprofit arts and three years writing fiction. He finally returned to computer science in 1990 when he began taking courses at the University of Southern Maine. He received an MS in computer science from USM in 1994 and a PhD in computer science from Duke University in 2000. After receiving his PhD, he joined the faculty of the Computer Science Department at Bowdoin College, where he currently teaches and pursues research in artificial intelligence.
