Student Work Selected for President's Reception: Current BFA student Jennifer Godsoe has been selected to have an exhibit of her drawings at the President's Reception, which every year has sponsored a selected art student to show a body of their work on 7th floor of the Law Building, Portland campus. Open to the public, this exhibit runs through May 2, 2008.
USM Art Student to Design Book for U.N.: Current BFA Senior Michael Breece's art work signifies his actual love for art thru his digital concentration. Michael has recently returned from a business trip to Italy where he was just hired for a wonderful job - designing a book for the United Nations. Michael's other worldly tours took him overseas on the USM Art Department's -France- Germany Exchange last summer where he was inspired to make a film about travel called "standing still." It is currently an e-motive installation. Design is Michael's current interest and he approaches his installations with the same design layout as he would a Web design. When Michael is not busy traveling and studying art here at USM Art Department - home is where his heart is with his fiancee Amy and his Boston terrier, Bella Luna.
What's Happening Now: Students of Richard Lethem and Rob Lieber exhibit their work from class projects this past spring. Lethem's students displayed works from intermediate oil painting and Lieber's class created an environmental "bubble", held together with duct tape, blower air, and plastic sheeting.

The USMART Program offers the intimacy of an art school within the abundant and varied environment of a University. Located on the University's Gorham Campus, students are able enjoy the secure environment of a small liberal arts campus within a small New England town, yet have easy access to the many cultural offerings of Greater Portland.
USMART highlights:
• a low student teacher ratio
• mentorship and peer learning
• an education that provides a thorough grounding in a student's field
• an emphasis on students' ability to think creatively, rather than to adhere to a specific approach of art marking
