Rose Marasco's photographs value the significance of the everyday: they address how meaning is created in our daily lives. Current projects include: New England Diary; An Aegean Portrait; and a torso/self-portrait series.

New England Diary consists of large format vibrant cibachrome prints of women's domestic objects and diaries, often juxtaposed in nature or in a contextual arrangement.

An Aegean Portrait, which chronicles the lives of twelve village women living on the islands of Lesvos, Chios, and Lemnos, includes black and white portraits; color computer collages; and 35mm, black and white prints visual diary images.

The torso series is a work in progress; it largely consists of black and white, large format pinhole derived self-portraits.

Marasco's photographic work addresses the complexity of meaning from a refined personal place of inquiry. Currently an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Southern Maine, Rose Marasco's work is represented by the Sarah Morthland Gallery in NYC, where a solo exhibition was held in 1998.

Her photographs have been included in several group shows of distinction, including the Bowdoin College Museum of Art's, Memorable Histories and Historic Memories. Marasco's photographs are included in key collections, including The Fogg Museum and The Photography Collection at The New York Public Library.

Photographs from her former project, Ritual and Community: the Maine Grange have been selected for acquisition by The Library of Congress. Rose Marasco has a B.F.A. from Syracuse University and an M.F.A. from the Visual Studies Workshop.
