Habit: Broad based, pyramidal form in maturity

Bark: Grayish brown to reddish brown, ridged and fibrous

Buds:

Needles: Scale like, 1/12 inch in length, abruptly pointed, bright green above, pale green below

Flowers: Monoecious, terminal, solitary

Fruit: Oblong cones, ½ inch in length, light brown, with 8-10 scales; seed winged, 1/8 inch long, compressed and narrow

Pests/Diseases: Canker, arborvitae aphid, cedar tree canker
