Mature Dimensions: 60-80 feet tall with a 30-50 foot spread

Habit: Upright, oval, and densely branched

Bark: Gray-brown and furrowed

Buds: ¼ inch long, brown, with terminal absent; oval

Leaves: Simple, alternate, heart-shaped with an uneven base; 1-3 inches long with a sharply serrated margin. Dark green summer color changes to yellow in autumn

Flowers: Appear in early July in the Gorham area; yellow and sweetlyfragranced, flowers are borne in pendulous clusters 2-3 inches wide and possess a wing-like bract

Fruit: Globose, ridged nutlet is fuzzy at youth and smooth with maturity

Pests/ Diseases: Japanese beetles, various aphids
