Hardiness: Hardy in the Gorham ME area; Zone 4-7

Mature Dimensions: 20-25 feet tall, with a 15-20 foot width

Habit: Small tree with oval-rounded outline or multistemmed, rounded shrub

Bark: Exfoliating, gray brown to brown

Buds: Flower: borne in axillary position, stalked, globose, blunt apex, yellow green in color. Vegetative: valvate, greenish, and silky

Leaves: Simple, opposite, ovate to elliptic, 2-4 inches long, ¾ to 1 ½ inch wide; dark green with 3-5 pairs of veins, petiole ¼ inch

Flowers: Yellow and persistent, flowers appear in April; borne in short stalked umbels, each flower is 1/6 inch in diameter

Fruit: Oblong berry like fruit emerges orange in late August and matures to cherry red in September; edible but unpalatable

Pests/Disease: Virtually pest free
