Hardiness:  Hardy in the Gorham, ME area; Zone 3-7

Mature Dimensions:  50-75 feet in height; 25-35 feet in width

Habit:  Broadly pyramidal with sloping branches

Bark:  Grayish in color, slightly scaly

Buds:  Small and globose; grayish brown and resinous

Leaves/Needles:  ½ to 1 inch long and 1/16 inch wide; flat and gently tapered.  Upper surface dark green; lower surface striped with 2 white broad lines of stoma

Flowers:  Monoecious and barely visible

Fruit:  Sessile cylindrical cones 2-3 inches in length are purplish when immature and brown when ripe. 

Pests/ Disease:  Spruce budworm, wooly adelgid, various types of canker
