Together with the ScienceWorks program at the Foundation for
Blood Research (FBR), our Department has been active in conducting biotechnology
workshops
and
laboratory training programs for Maine high school science teachers and their students.
Faculty
members and graduate students serve as lecturers, mentors, and lab instructors in these activities
at
the FBR labs and regional high schools.
As part of a project funded by the National Science Foundation, graduate fellows in the
department travel to rural high schools in Maine to conduct special laboratories.
