Advising Timeline
August
Final New Student Advising and Registration day is held for incoming students.
Correspond with new advisees and advisees who have not yet registered.
Non-matriculated students register.
September
Correspond with returning advisees.
Contact and support advisees who may be at risk, and/or those who are experiencing academic difficulty.
Add/Drop is taking place.
October
Continue to connect with advisees (either initial or follow up meetings.) Advisors receive Project 100 notices which are issued around the middle of the month.
Work with advisees to prepare and give approval for advance registration for the Spring semester.
Many mid-term exams are given in October.
November
Continue to hold advance registration appointments.
Matriculated students register for spring courses.
Winter Session Registration begins.
December
Students are busy with end of the semester projects and finals.
Academic actions (probation, suspension, dismissal) are taken by the Dean’s offices as soon as grades are made available (typically at the end of the month.)
January
New Student Advising and Registration day is held for incoming students.
Non-matriculated students register.
Add/Drop is taking place.
Meet with advisees who are on Academic Probation to develop strategies for success.
Correspond with new and returning advisees.
February
Project 100 notices are issues around the middle of the month.
Contact and support any advisees experiencing academic difficulty.
Many mid-term exams are given in February.
March
Begin to work with advisees to prepare and give approval for advance registration for fall semester.
April
Continue to hold advance registration appointments.
Matriculated students register for fall courses.
Summer Session registration begins.
May
Students are working on end of the semester projects. Final exams are held in early May.
Academic actions (probation, suspension, dismissal) are taken by the Dean’s offices as soon as grades are available (typically at the end of the month.)
June and July
