Access the on-line tutorial on how to activate you email/student account.

How to activate your email account:

• If you have not activated your email account and/or user name, you should have received a letter with an activation code and your email address.
• Go to https://mail.maine.edu/ to start the process.
• Click on Account Activation.
• Enter your identification number. This is your student ID number.  This number was sent to you with your activation letter. 

Enter your identification number: 1234567  REQUIRED

 and enter your activation key:     XXXXXXX   REQUIRED   (Enter EXACTLY as printed)

• Click Continue
• You will then be able to create your own password.
• Your user name is the name part of your email address.  (Do not include the @maine.edu.)

Is your Email forwarded?

If you forward your email you risk not receiving important information. 

We suggest that you do not forward your email and conduct all university business through mail.maine.edu.  That way you can keep track of all university business and guarantee receiving important communications. 

If you are not receiving emails to your university account, it is possible the forward is active.  Please check!

• Go to https://mail.maine.edu/

• Click Change the destination of email sent to your @Maine.edu address

• Enter your Userid: (The name part of your email)

• Enter your Password

• Click Your IMAP/POP mailbox

If you forward your email to an outside account and it blocks your university email for any reason, your email will not bounce back to your university account.

Having Trouble Activating or Accessing your Email:

You might have already activated your account earlier and forgot your password.

• You can reset your password at https://mail.maine.edu/ and click Reset lost password.
