How the pathway works
During your final year of undergraduate study, you’ll begin taking graduate-level TESOL courses — if you meet progress standards. The graduate-level courses will satisfy credit requirements for your undergraduate major as well as the first year of the TESOL graduate program.
Select any undergraduate major
Each of our undergraduate majors is eligible to enroll in the TESOL MSEd Accelerated Graduate Pathway. If you are majoring in Elementary Education or a Secondary Teacher Education Pathway, you can earn your add-on Maine Department of Education ESOL Endorsement. Please be advised that some majors that require 70 credits or more will extend the normal timeline for the pathway.
Program requirements
You can elect this pathway at the end of your third year of undergraduate study. In your graduate-level courses, you will be required to earn at least a B- in each course and maintain a GPA of 3.0.
About our TESOL MSEd program
Our MSEd program is grounded in literacy theory and teaches both pedagogical theory and best practices that can be applied right away in a classroom environment. Our TESOL graduate program is available through two modes of study: blended and accelerated online. You can choose the mode of study that you prefer. Each option leads to the same Master of Science in Education.
Blended program
Complete your graduate studies through a mix of in-person and online courses.
Accelerated online program
Complete your graduate studies through 7-week asynchronous online courses.
Admission to the TESOL MSEd program
During your undergraduate studies, you will be required to submit the graduate program application along with all required admission materials. You can apply to the blended program or the accelerated online program. Each program has the same admission requirements. Your Academic Advisor will provide guidance on submitting your application.
