Special Programs USM's Theatre Department is affiliated with the New England Theatre Conference, and the American College Theatre Festival.   Theatre students at USM have compiled one of the best competition records in New England, and have been judged best in the region seven times. Additionally, the Department offers a variety of foreign exchange programs, including the possibility of exchanging productions with a variety of schools in England. Full semester internships with Portland Stage Company, Maine State Music Theatre, and The Public Theatre are also available, as are courses with the International Reader's Theatre Institute.
