Scholarship of
Teaching and Learning
The Transforming USM document introduced
in the spring of 2004 refers to Ernest Boyer's Scholarship Reconsidered
(1990), which proposes the concept of four scholarships, i.e. discovery,
application, integration, and teaching and learning. When
we practice the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), we
are reflecting on our teaching in a systematic manner, applying
our findings to the enhancement of our own work, and sharing our
knowledge with peers in our institution and discipline through publications
and conference presentations.
The Center for Teaching supports
and encourages the practice of the scholarship of teaching and learning
at USM. This web page and its links is a demonstration
of that support.
